House of Blues

1992-1998

Worked as the first curator for House of Blues.  Helped organize the art collection and began working with several of the artists whose paintings were acquired by the company. Set up and programmed the recorded music program that displayed what was playing on a monitor at the bar. Worked in Boston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas. Conceptualized and worked with The Haizlip Firm in Memphis with the restoration of the Muddy Waters Cabin. Helped curate the exhibit Big Blues, Small World. The cabin was developed into a traveling exhibit that was featured at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics and the Chicago Blues Festival. 

 

Commissioned art by Southern artists Patterson & Barnes for the cookbook Cookin’ Up The Blues that was underwritten by the McIlhenney family the makers of Tabasco. The book helped raise money for the House of Blues Foundation.

Worked again with HOB after Hurricane Katrina in moving their stained glass collection to Memphis for restoration at Rainbow Studios and also with Belz Real Estate to secure a temporary place to move all of the company's architectural antiques and folk art collection.

Organized and curated an art exhibit at the Contemporary Art Center and another with Gatemouth Brown at HOB. Commissioned artwork for a private party featuring Macy Gray.
